Our Story
Until 15th Jan 2006, 1001 destitute children have been provided love and warmth at the Center. At any given time there are about 60 children in the Child Care Center. The Centre has moved to its new building at Kanjur in September 2003. It can now comfortably accommodate 100 children.

We strongly believe that the right place for a child is a home and loving parents, where the child feels more secured. It is also a universally accepted fact that the children develop more comfortably in their own cultural and social milieu. Vatsalya Trust therefore believes in rehabilitation of children by way of in-country adoption. Only the special needs children who cannot get placed within the country are proposed for inter -country adoption so that they are not deprived of parental love. So far, 5 such special need children have been placed with NRI families in inter-country adoption, & while 822 children have been placed in adoption within the country.

Periodically pre & post adoption counseling sessions for the adoptive parents are organized by Vatsalya Trust. Annual get-together of adoptive families, donors and well-wishers is also a regular feature.

Vatsalya has initiated and supported an emotional support group of adoptive parents ‘Spandan’.

In order to facilitate the implementation of the norms, principles and procedures relating to adoption of children laid down by the Supreme Court, several steps have been taken by the Government of India.

Setting up of Central Adoption & Resource Agency (CARA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Women & Child Development is one such step. CARA deals with all matters concerning in-country adoption and regulate inter-country adoption one could refer to
