Over the years, Vatsalya has come up as a unique orphanage cum childcare center; also promoting adoption. Now the new dimension has been added to its activities by creating an academic base covering all facets of children’s issues. On 14th November 2003 Vatsalya Trust initiated ‘DoTReC’ Documentation, Training and Research Center.

The Documentation, Training and Research Center – DoTReC works for:

• Providing reliable basic information on all aspects of child issues such as child labour, street children, destitute children, child prostitution, child development, child abuse and so on.
• Establishing a resource center by networking with organizations already working on specific children’s issues. It also make efforts to provide adequate facilities and support to researchers by focusing on different children’s issues and their multidimensional aspects.
• Arranging short-term training and refresher courses on child related issues.

Today the Documentation wing of the Center has a sizable collection of nearly 300 books, 2000 newspaper clippings, journal and magazine articles addressing children’s issues. The wing also has a collection of policies and laws related to children.

Spreading awareness and stimulating sensitivity for child related issues in masses Capacity Building for Personnel working for and with children Personality Development Training Programmes For Children Life skill training programmes for adolescents. The beneficiaries of 28 different training programmes conducted so far are 2523.
